Recycled Crayons

As a teacher I always end up with broken and gross crayons at the end of the year. Yes, I could use them for my class the following year, but I enjoy giving them new materials to work with. I decided that I wanted to find a way to recycle my crayons.... so I visited my favorite website (Youtube) to come up with ideas. So, here we go.... recycled crayons! I melted the crayons down over the stove, and then placed them in candy molds. They were left to cool... and VIOLA! New crayons! I made more colors but only took pictures of the purple crayons. I hope you enjoy! I apologize for the poor quality pictures... I took it on my camera phone.

Quick Thank You Card

I needed to whip up a quick thank you card for my soon-to-be in-laws! They purchased us the most amazing suitcases off our wedding registry. Now we will actually have something to pack all of our honeymoon goodies in.... we were a bit worried since neither one of us previously owned luggage. So anyways, used Wild Card cart for the scalloped circle and Accent Essentials for the middle circle. The stamp is an old one that I think I bought at Target for about $1.00! The butterfly paper is from a new DCWV pack that I recently purchased. Love the paper! I hope my future in-laws enjoy the card. They are amazing and have done so much for us. Wedding countdown: 63 days and counting!

Jungle Diaper Cake

My good friend Jenny is having a baby in July, but her baby shower is coming up in a few weeks. I am hosting the shower and trying to make things vs buying things for it. I want it to really have a fun personal touch. Here is the diaper cake that I made for the shower. I have never made one before, but once I got started I realized it was quite easy! It's not perfect, but it still looks really good. I used my Create a Critter cartridge to create all of the animals around it, and made some pinwheels to stick on the top. The "cake" has a few baby items within that you can't see from the outside. I am actually very proud of myself! I didn't think it would work out well, but it actually came out great! I hope you enjoy looking at it!

Hello Kitty Notebook

I finally broke down and purchased the Hello Kitty Cricut cartridge. Now, I am not the biggest fan of Hello Kitty, but I figured I would know enough people who would enjoy the images to make it worth it. This is the first project I have completed using the cartridge. Surprisingly enough the layers are really easy to put together! The notebook was assembled using my Bind It All system that I purchased about a year ago. There are 25 blank sheets inside and the notebook itself measures 4" by 6". Not too bad for the first cut I've made with this cartridge. It could definitely use some more decoration, but all in all I think it came out okay. I hope you all enjoy!

Tree Hugger

This image was just too cute! I cut it from the "Give a Hoot" cartridge at 3.75". The paper is from a DCWV stack that I had laying around. I'm not sure what they name of it was called. The sentiment was stamped using individual alphabet stamps. I was surprised I managed to line them up so straight! Haha. I inked around the edges to give the image more depth. It is simple yet super cute. I hope you enjoy!

Wedding pomanders

For those who don't already know, I'm getting married in June. The stress is starting to take it's toll and I still have 3 months! Geebus! Tonight I decided to get started on some pomanders that I will use to line the aisles at the wedding. I was able to get the silk flowers at the Dollar Tree and the styrofoam balls at Walmart for cheap! The ribbon was the most expensive part... haha. Anyhow, I LOVE how these came out. I was so nervous to do these, but now I realize that I was just being paranoid. I have some more to make and I will post pics of those when they are all done. :-)

San Francisco Layout

It's been awhile since this trip, but I'm just finally making myself sit down and get all these photos scrapbooked! Of course getting new paper and embellishments make it so much easier! This layout was made using the American Crafts Travel page kit. I had actually went to Marshall's a few days ago and they had a ton of American Crafts kits for less that $5 each! It was such a steal! Anyways, I love how this page turned out. The colors are awesome, and the foam letters could not have been more perfect. Love, love, love this!
